Mitch's packing list for Europe
It's no secret that packing sucks. I hate it. I procrastinate until the last second almost every time. It wasn't until I started a simple system by using a core packing list to always revert back to that it became very easy. So hopefully this list will help you construct your core list and make packing not suck so bad!
Here is everything you need to cover your head, shoulders, knees and toes to travel Europe for 4 months (Aug - Dec to be exact). This list was perfect for our travels but it should be a good place to get you started!
This list works if you available to do laundry every 3-4 days. If you make it to day 5 you're going to start wearing some stinky clothes.
- 2 short sleeve T's*
- 1 Short sleeve button up
- 1 Hooded Sweatshirt
- 1 Crew Sweater
- 1 Long Sleeve button up/dress shirt
All the in-betweens
- 6 underwear
- pair of minimal active shoes
- pair of strap up sandals (not flip flops, think Teva)
- 3 pairs of merino wool socks (see the tips below)
- A baseball cap
Everyday Carry and then some
- Passport (duh)
- iPhone Charging Case
- Wireless headphones
- Macbook Pro 13''
- All the Chargers and adapters needed
- Back up hard drive
- World Travel adapter
- Note pad & Pen
- Packable backpack
My specific needs
- Contacts for 3 months
- Eye glasses
- Dopp kit and all bathroom stuff (tooth brush, paste, retainer, deo-stick, and chapstick)
All of these goodies fit into my 35L Tortuga backpack!
Tip on the merino wool socks - They don't stink after the first or even 3rd wear. Just make sure to dry them out at the end of the day. If you think its gross, read up on the perks of merino wool and your mind will be blown away!
Travel Tip: Wear your bulkiest clothes on travel days to save space in your bag and tie your sweater around your waste so you can use it as a pillow on the plane :)
Hope this helps you in your next packing endeavor!
